My Brisbane Holiday
My son Graeme and I traveled to Brisbane to spend Christmas with family. Unfortunately we couldn't be there for Christmas Day but managed to arrive on Boxing Day. My sister and her partner had planned quite a few things for our two and a half week holiday.
Two days after we arrived Graeme, Shawsy (my sister's partner) and I all piled into Rose's (my sister) big four-wheel drive. It was well packed with a weeks supply of food, bedding etc. We were going to stay at a Hervey Bay Caravan Park. The trip would take over four hours and would include a quick stop at Gympie to see my niece Missie. It was extra slow going as we were also towing a boat.
While we were at Hervey Bay the nearby Fraser Island had to be evacuated because of cyclone strength winds and heavy rain so you can imagine what the weather was like for our stay at the caravan park!
After returning to my sister's house we had many day trips and managed to sneak in a couple of days in the boat. The weather was shocking for just about the whole time we were there. I was told by a few people that it was the worst summer they could remember - my family said it was my fault and that I had brought the bad weather with me.
